Ingredients: yields up to 12 barbecued shrimp skewers

2-3 lbs. of fresh shrimps, skinned & deveined
1/2 cup of lemon juice
1/2 cup of Teriyaki sauce
1/2 cup of pineapple juice
1 cup of pineapple chunks
2 tbsp. of garlic powder
1 tsp paprika
12 sticks (skewers)

Grilling Procedure:

  1. Wash, remove shells and devein shrimps, then set aside. On a mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except the pineapple chunks, to create the marinade.
  2. Immerge the shrimps and pineapple chunks into the marinade and leave it in the fridge for at least overnight for the marinade to properly incorporate.
  3. Soak all the barbecue sticks in water as well. This process helps prevent the sticks from burning during the barbecued shrimp skewers grilling process.
  4. The next day, start skewer at least 2-3 pieces of fresh shrimps with pineapple chunks in-between each barbecue stick.
  5. Set up the griller to start the barbecue process. Grill each side of the shrimps alternately, 5-8 minutes on each side until they are golden brown.
  6. While the succulent barbecued shrimp skewers are grilling, use the leftover marinade to brush each side to keep them from drying up.
  7. Serve hot as an appetizer or a side dish for a dinner meal with your choice of extra dish.

Tip: For a more flavorful Inihaw na Hipon result, dip them in spicy vinegar with fish sauce or soy sauce. It’s a great idea to serve during special occasions like the 4th of July or any family or social gatherings.
