The Busy City of Metro Manila
Manila is the bustling capital city of the Philippines, located in the western part of the island of Luzon. It is a densely populated metropolis with a rich history, blending Spanish colonial architecture with modern skyscrapers. The metro city is known for its vibrant culture, delicious cuisine and diverse nightlife, offering visitors a unique experience of traditional and contemporary Filipino life. However, Manila also faces traffic congestion and air pollution, which can detract from the city’s beauty and livability.
Similar to Makati, the city never sleeps. During my college days, I had to wake up as early as 3am to catch the bus and arrive on time for my internship at the hospital. Even at that hour, traffic was already congested, making commuting a challenging experience.
The Cityscape of Makati City
Makati City is one of the 16 cities that make up Metro Manila, the Philippines’ capital region. Known as the country’s financial center, Makati is home to many multinational corporations, banks and businesses. The city is characterized by its modern high-rise buildings, luxury shopping malls and bustling business district.
Makati also has a vibrant nightlife scene, with numerous restaurants, bars and clubs, catering to both locals and tourists. Despite being a highly urbanized city, Makati has several parks and green spaces that provide a respite from the concrete jungle. Overall, Makati is a dynamic city that offers a glimpse into the Philippines’ fast-paced business world and modern urban lifestyle.
