A favorite Filipino breakfast meal that is commonly served on every Filipino breakfast table is Daing, which basically means sun-dried fish. It can be made from various types of fish such as Bangus or Milkfish, Galunggong or Mackerel, Squid Calamari or Herring, which is used to create “Tuyo” – another term for sun-dried fish. Depending on the province, you may find different terms used for Daing.

In the past, Daing was considered poverty food, but the desire for it from Filipinos living abroad has changed this perception. Now, it is considered a beloved dish and a staple in many households.

For breakfast, try Janis’s Pritong Daing with Scrambled Eggs and Rice combo meal. It features a delectable mix of fried, dried Bisugo, Danggit, and dried Pusit (Squid), served with fluffy scrambled eggs, steaming rice, and a cup of hot coffee – a perfect start to your day!
