The word “Giniling” refers to any ground product, like coffee, or in this case, pork. Cathy’s Ginisang Giniling na Baboy recipe is mixed garbanzos beans, which she used as a substitute to pea pods or green peas. Legumes are her favorite and gabanzo beans are one of them. Ingredients: 3-4 servings
2 lbs. ground pork
1 large diced potatoes
2 medium diced carrots
1 medium chopped onion
2 cloves of chopped garlic
2 medium chopped tomatoes
1/2 cup garbanzo beans
1/2 medium, chopped red bell pepper
1/2 cup tomato sauce
1 1/2 cups water
2 tbsp. cooking oil
salt & pepper to taste
Cooking Procedure:
- On a large pan, heat oil and sauté garlic, onions and tomatoes. Stir for a few minutes, then add ground pork and garbanzo beans and continue to sauté for at least 5 minutes. Remove excess fat, if any.
- Pour in water and let the ground pork cook for about 20-25 minutes. Add potatoes and carrots. Let it simmer for another 5-10 minutes.
- Add chopped bell peppers, followed by tomato sauce. Season with salt and pepper, stir to combine, then continue to simmer for another 5-8 more minutes.
- Turn off heat when done. Serve this yummy, sautéed Ground Pork with garbanzo beans, hot, with steamed rice.
